Again! How to Draw a Dragon with Emily Gravett
This book is our book of the week in the library. In this video the author and illustrator Emily Gravett will share with you how to draw her dragon.

Joy Cowley is one of New Zealand's most famous authors. You will all take home one of her books as you learn to read. This video is made by children in Palmerston North reading one of her reading books - The New Cat.
The quiz this week is on Pip the Penguin. A beautiful picture book written by Joy Cowley and illustrated by Gavin Bishop. Read it in the library and answer the question to win the prize!

Digging Up The Past by David Veart
Archaeologists study old things to find out what happened in the past. They have studied moa eggs, they have found out what people ate, they have even investigated dog poo. This book was a finalist in the NZ Post Children's Book Awards and we have it in the library. It is full of photos and illustrations and is really interesting.

The Cats Pyjama's Interview on Channel North
Last night in Wellington the NZ Post Children's Book Award winners were announced. The Children's Choice Award was the book we voted for in the library.
The winner was The Cats Pyjamas by Catherine Foreman. She was born in Whangarei. Have a look at this Channel North interview with her when she visited Whangarei to promote her award winning book.

March is New Zealand Book Month
Everyone at school on Friday received a $5 voucher to use on their next book purchase, this was to celebrate NZ Book Month. There are great activities happening all around NZ - to have a look at them, follow this link http://nzbookmonth.co.nz/.
The Hurupaki Library Summer Reading Competition
We have entry forms in the Library for our annual Summer Reading Competition. Come in and grab a form - all you need to do is read! Just list all the books, magazines, journals and anything else you have read and ask an adult to sign for you. There are some fantastic prizes to be won! They will be awarded at the last assembly of term by Mrs Herman.
